Firstly download mIRC here www.mirc.com and install Launch mIRC the first thing you will notice is its a 30 day trial forget about that, after 30 days you can still use it,it will just take slightly longer to load. either pay a subscription or find a keygen now we need to set up the server click on servers on the left hand side (in the catagory list) the server address is irc.borgamers.com Port: 6667 Click ADD Fill in Description as: Reborn Gamers Fill in IRC Server as: irc.borgamers.com Fill in Port as: 6667 Click Add Thats the server set up Next we need to join the server, so highlight connect(in the category list) (see fig.2) fig.2 Fill in the boxes with your name, e-mail address and game nickname Click "connect to server" CONGRATULATIONS you have succesfully connected to Reborn Gamers IRC After you connect you should see a similar screen to this (see fig.3) fig.3 You will auto-join our lobby. If you get that Favorites pop-up just click ok. Or you can type /list and a new screen will pop-up listing all available channels to join. Double-click on one and you will join it.

There are many firewalls and school networks that don't like IRC. McAfee is known for blocking IRC even just the antivirus will do it.

Simple google search will tell you how and what to check/uncheck to allow it. I had to because of zonealarm.
Now school/work networks, i guess you're just SOL

I think my school must be blocking it or something. I still can't connect through the real mIRC client, but I got in using mibbit.com. It's good enough for now, but I still wanna find where the problem lies so I can use the real client.

Any software that complies with RFC 1459 sections 1.2 and 2.x is a real IRC client. I believe mibbit qualifies.
