The free weekend was only valid for this weekend. The guest pass is good till you use it. FALSE! Guest passes expire after a period of time. If we all got them at the same time I estimate it everyone's will end 9/20/2008. (For more details in steam click "Games" then "Manage Gift & Guest Passes")

Stupid question but is TF2 worth playing like game wise? as in are there strategies or will 1 class just pwn everyone even though the person is a newbie, and also i have a ladder match coming up and i don't want to ruin my aim so should i avoid it for now? If it's none of the above cases then i would love to try it but pm me before hand since school is pounding me with work atm. (the teachers that think we actually NEED to study for a test, pfft.)

Chris, the characters in TF2 are almost equal in everything they do. There are some classes that are easy to use, and that means that they are kind of less weak in certain maps. But there are also some classes that require skill, but when that skill is gained they can be killing machines...
As for your aim, being the sniper is awesome to learn how to hide, guess where enemies will be, and also evade other enemy snipers.
There is the scout, (young guy who runs fast with a shotgun and a bat), some people like it because he moves faster than any class, but also it is easy for a sniper to pick the scout off, or for a Heavy (a fat guy with a minigun) to take one down.
all of the classes are pretty equal in what they do. It really depends what map you are playing to decide what class is best.
If enough people are intersted I can create a nice tutorial, with all the classes etc.... Just let me know, i wouldnt mind making one.

Each class has their individual strengths and weaknesses. A heavy is deadly and has alot of health, but is very slow, so a sniper can easy vacate his noggin, or a spy can easily back stab him for an instant kill. Same with the other classes. A pyro is deadly at close range, but very weak at long range. A scout is good for harassing the enemy and making them waste time trying to kill you, also good at rushing in, getting a kill and getting out fast. As a sniper you stay in the back getting kills, but are a favorite target for spies.
Likewise, Spies are a favorite target for just about everybudy, but ewspecially pyros because pyros can set them on fire basically revealing them.
Medics are also important because they have the ability to "go uber" which basically makes you and another character invulnerable for somewhere between 10 and 15 seconds. This, used on the right person can be critical for getting past pesky sentry nests, which brings me to the engineer.
With only a shotgun and a pistol, the engy isn't very good offensively, but can be very effective defensively. Setting up a health and ammo dispensing dispenser (hence the name) can help your team, but is also critical to support you while building your sentry. The sentry protects you and your dispenser. It has a limited range so you have to find the right spot for it or soldiers and demomen can easily take it out. You also have to stay near it because spies can "sap" (saping basically paralyzes any of the engy's buildings and slowly destroys them) it without loosing their disguise. If the spy is good he can backstab you and sap your sentry (or vise versa) before you or your sentry can kill him. Engies can also build teleporters. Put one near your spawn and the other near the front lines, and people will love you for it, because some maps can have an annoyingly long walk to get to the action.
The spy, while generally weak in single combat (run away!) can both make himself invisible to get past the front lines, and also disguise himself as the enemy. He can then stab anyone in the back for an instant kill. The spy involves alot of strategy because people these days know what to look for, if they see their team mate running towards them, they'll shoot a rocket in their face and see what happens (no FF so why not!) If a spy falls to the ground dead, then score one for the team. Otherwise no harm done. For that very reason, spies have to act like the enemy. cloak to get behind them, hide to decloak, then go back toward the front lines looking for a good juicy target.
Demomen and soldiers are the generic grenade and rocket launching classes respectively, but just like every other class, they can be completely useless in the control of a n00b, or VERY deadly if you know how to use them. Every class is like that. I've seen medics on top of the leader board because they're meleing everybody to death.
