Hi, I just joined the board ^.^
there are some things that i think would make nachos n Beer better
1. the time that maps can get voted again after they got played should be reduced. At the moment it takes about 8 (or so) other maps to be played to play one map again.
If there are CnC maps and mushroom for example it always takes HOURS to play a good map again cause these matches take most of the time the full 30 mins of each round. So this often sums up to xx hours if you want to play grandcanyon again for example
which leads me to the next point:
2. in my opinion the CnC & ballistic weapons maps should be removed from the server, and mushroom kingdom aswell
several reasons: - you dont need any real skill to play these maps, you just run around, spam around with or without cars. thats annoying - this is no real UT, why do ballistics weapons maps or CnC? go play some cs or call of duty or CnC red alert or whatever - these maps just get boring after you played them one / two times, but these maps get played the whole I really talk stupidly day and no offense against anyone, but most of the people (not all) are just noobs or quite low, so they want to play these skillless maps, while many more skilled players want to play real maps like grandcanyon and just leave the server
An alternative would be to set up another Server with just CnC, Ballistic weapons, mushrooom kingdom and stuff like this, so the players that like these kind of maps can play them there and the players that dont like these kind of maps, which are quite many i think, can play some real UT maps on the Nachos Server But i dont know if this is possible cause this costs some more money

While I completely agree with you on everything you said, Your suggestions will never happen. The CnC maps are what made the server popular in the first place, and if you think you are leet and such, go play some TWL TAM. So what if the players are noobs? People are what make a server great, not the skill level of the populace. To me, all you are coming off as is an elitist prick who can't handle anything that he deems "Unskillful".

about your CnC & ballistic points, the problem i see you have maybe with ballistics more than CnC is quite simply your not used to the weapon style and your quite frankly bad with them. Grandcanyon as you mentioned also gets boring if its played several times a day. Of course the point your missing is a very simple point and answer, dont like the maps that are being played instead of A: insulting them B: spamming text, voice, voting and C: calling everyone noobs and so on, then the obvious answer is to either spectate the map, leave the server play something else for a while or go make a cup of coffee and relax some (decaf). No offense to anyone but as Rugal said the likes of the CnC maps are what makes the server popular to those that dont like it, quit insulting the maps which therefore insults the map makers and leave the game, simple as that. You should also note that if your so good to be playing at (and i quote rugal) "leet" level then im sure some of the ones that also dont like CnC & ballistics will be more than happy to play against you while those maps are being played. Not trying to make myself sound like a prick or even sound good at the game (hell i suck compared to most) but atleast i play the game to have fun no matter what the map. If i dont like a particular map i leave for a while..... EDIT: if so many 'skilled players' leave the server why do they keep coming back? Unless im mistaken its one if not the most played Assault server on UT, hmm i wonder where i can check that heres a list of people that although i enjoy playing with them i also know my chances of even getting close to beating them is quite slim: Rugal (hate you with a shock rifle) Nojam (hate your sneakyness at times) Pi (you really do appear out of nowhere at times) Sho (i rarely see you coming) and the list can go on those were just ones off the top of my head Anyways thats my rant done for the day

We will not remove CnC maps & Ballistics weapons just because of one person. We will not shorten the map time (Some maps take 30 minutes minimum just to complete), and we will not make another server just for you. Do you understand what a server is? Our boxes only have room for about 2-3 more servers. We are planning on using those for newer games. So sorry, no. And what if a map had both UT and ballistics weapons? Would you like it?

Its fine, but take some time to actually learn about the community. The community, in this case, being the players in Nachos&Beer. UT2004 is a dieing game. 2. in my opinion the CnC & ballistic weapons maps should be removed from the server, and mushroom kingdom aswell Next time your in the server, bring up the map-voting menu and use the filter to bring up the most played maps. The C&C, Ballistics and Mushroom Kingdom map are at the top. Most played = most voted = most liked = most popular. - this is no real UT, why do ballistics weapons maps or CnC? go play some cs or call of duty or CnC red alert or whatever UT is a fully mod-able game. It pisses tons of people off, including me. Get used to it, because bunny-hopping and rocking work. Great recommendations, don't count on any of them being put into effect though. @ Wolf: I think you misunderstood me. I didnt say to shorten the play time of each map, which is 30 mins per round. I think the time that a map cant get voted again, the time that a map is "greyed out" to vote, should be reduced. The "grey out" time is at the moment about 8 matches of others maps that has to be played to vote one map again.
Thats what i trying to say. Hope its clear now. No one said anything about this point, i dont think this point hasnt any negative side effects, has it ?

Wow for once I agree with Help, Rugal, and Nojam, someone pinch me! I love these maps, it was maps like CnC and balistics that make me play this server so often. If you don't like it, tough beans, spectate, wait, or dont play. Its maps like those that makes it fun and entertaining, you want boring maps, play elsewhere, if you want another server, donate a million dollars and it might happen Also, Im on help list of ppl better then him j/k He is better then me, just check the rankings.... Anyway, welcome to the server and if you need help on those maps ask me, I'm an expert, and have many apprentices Remember: You Can't Stop the Virus!

Well, I'm gonna go ahead and support Calum here. He has been on the server for a while now, so he isn't totally new. He has always been friendly in-game and always helps me out when I'm stuck on an awful team (thanks bud!). Next time your in the server, bring up the map-voting menu and use the filter to bring up the most played maps. The C&C, Ballistics and Mushroom Kingdom map are at the top. Most played = most voted = most liked = most popular. Well, there is more to it than that. It also has something to do with timing. If CnC people get on in the morning, they can get the server into a CnC loop. The non-CnC people see the server is stuck on CnC and don't join, which means there is nobody to vote it down. Only when somebody accidentally votes in a non-CnC map will enough non-CnC players get on to vote in the other non-CnC. I'm not gonna say that CnC/Ballistics should be removed, but maybe something to get a better rotation going. (I don't pay the bills and I don't have the means to fund a new server, so I'll just deal with it like I have been) My main beef is that I only get small amount of time to play, and usually end up missing it because the server is in an infinite CnC/Ballistics loop. I love FFF, but one CnC map will eat up the vast majority of its time, so I usually end up missing it. UT is a fully mod-able game. The ability to add these eccentric weapons and mod the game is what contributes to UTs popularity. Yes, but what differentiates one FPS from another? I would say (at least) weapons, movement, and game types (dm/ctf/assault). Ballistics changes 2 of those completely. It is no longer UT at that point, imo. As an extreme analogy, if someone made a 100% World of Warcraft RPG mod, would you host it? Certainly there are *massive* amounts of people that would flock to the server, but it wouldn't be a UT server then, would it? Mush to me is a whole other point. My problem with MK is its scoring. I get the feeling that most players play it just to rack up points. I can't even count the number of times a teammate has gotten us both killed in the coin room because he/she tried to jump ahead and get points to pad his/her precious GT ranking (you know who you are). Not to sound harsh here, but theres maps people like and maps people dont like. Those that like temple of boom for example will always vote it compared to say CnC. But the ones that like CnC will always vote for it before boom. This isnt a new thing to a server all servers have maps people like and people dont like. Get rid of the modded maps such as ballistics and CnC and id say the server popularity would go down. But at the same time i also agree abit with the voting, but not because of CnC or ballistic maps, but because of for example Grandcanyon, although i appreciate the work that was put into making the map a well respected map, i got bored of playing it constantly. Its the same with boom, ive played non CnC & Ballistic maps several times within a day over and over again, so if we go by the CnC & Ballistic hating people isnt it then unfair to those that enjoy CnC & ballistics that they dont get to play a map they enjoy because non fans of those maps keep out voting it? Theres two sides to it, i do enjoy playing the likes of castle before temple of boom so even if the voting is 10 boom and 2 castle id still vote for castle before boom.
Ive got nothing against Calum, ive only played a game or two against him lately but he seemed an alright guy, but to insult fans of certain maps, call them noobs, and say they have no skill in UT is a bit far fetched and well insulting. Theres CnC players for example that are pretty decent at 'ordinary maps' sure maybe not as good as him or anyone else that doesnt like CnC maps but still good at the game none the less

Yea, I agree... There are several of the other non-CnC maps that I would like to see played other than ion/awesomemap/canyon/temple. While I really enjoy playing those 4 maps, they tend to be the only non-CnC maps that ever make it in.
A little variety would be nice. Heck, it might turn out that people actually *like* some of the other maps.

@ Silent. Don't get me wrong buddy, I hate C&C and Ballistics as much as the next guy. Hence my absence on N&B.
I'm just saying, in the server, majority rules. If you really want to play a different map, get in there and get people to vote for it. When a bunch of us in TS want a map, we jump in and vote for it and tell everyone to do the same. (I.E. Lots of people like you Silent, they'll be influenced by you) But...I do agree the rotation needs to be increased so that its just not a constant loop of the same maps.(Maybe you can get someone and his/her "apprentices" to vote with you)
If you don't want C&C, jump in and gain the popular vote and vote it out of the loop.
About Game Tracker Rankings...THEY ARE A LIE. They give you no perception of skill, its all about how long you play and how much you play. If you really want to know who's best,(me...sorry egos acting up) go 1 on 1 in a Freon/TAM server *cough* Nachos and Freeze-tag.

Well im not fussed on the ballistics weapons but its fun none the less. But yeah silent i agree there is a few other maps that ive only actually played once or twice cause they dont get voted.
As for nojam you do realise who his so called apprentices are dont ya? lol bunch of kids that will vote the ballistics and CnC if he says to do so. Its like highrise personally i hate the map with few players but if the server is full more or less then im a fan of it, funny the way that works.
As for the freeze tag ive played that with you guys a few times and really enjoyed it even though i get my booty handed to me on a plate but none the less its usually pretty fun

OK, i just want to clarify some things with calum and his suggestions.
You want to remove the CnC(4) and ballistics(2) maps and MK(1) which is about seven maps total. The time between when a map can be played again is currently 8 maps. And you want to decrease that time? The maps aren't going to be removed so i'm just curious if you would still like the time between maps to be decreased? Cause if it is, say 6 maps instead, wouldn't people be able to cycle through all of those maps without missing one?
There is a reason the number of maps between is 8. The server owner knows what he is doing and he understands that not everyone likes the above mentioned maps (me included) that is why he set the number of maps at 8. If it was lower people would be in there voting the same maps over and over, this way people are forced to choose different maps, most of which are very entertaining.
Hopefully i laid this out logically, i'm tired now so if it's a little confusing, get over it! ;D
